Supporting Mental Health in the Creative Industry: How Our Animation Studio Puts Wellbeing First

At our animation studio, mental health is more than just a talking point — it’s something we actively prioritise in both our creative work and our workplace culture. As we recognise Mental Health Awareness Week, we want to share how we’re supporting mental health, not only through the animated explainer videos and eLearning videos we create but also in the way we look after our own team.

Storytelling with Purpose: Working with clients to improve awareness

Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of partnering with incredible mental health focused organisations to bring their messages to life. Whether it’s a 2D animation explaining the struggles faced by new parents, or an animated training video helping to reduce stigma around grief, our studio has seen first-hand the power of visual storytelling to make complex topics accessible.

Our explainer videos on the subject of mental health are designed to be clear, compassionate, and engaging — ensuring that vital information reaches those who need it most. From coping strategies to encouraging people to seek support, these projects are some of the most meaningful work we do.

Looking After Our Own: Mental Health in the Studio

Of course, creating powerful animations is only possible when we take care of our own wellbeing too. Like many creative businesses, our team experiences the unique pressures that come with producing 2D animation at a high standard. Tight deadlines, creative blocks, and the challenge of maintaining originality can all take their toll.

Since we’ve embraced flexible and remote working, we’ve also learned to navigate the mental health challenges of working from home. While it offers freedom, it can also lead to feelings of isolation or blurred boundaries between work and personal life.

That’s why we’ve made conscious changes to support our team, including:

  • Regular wellbeing check-ins, whether in person or over a video call
  • Clear project timelines, with achievable milestones to reduce last-minute stress
  • Encouraging screen breaks and outdoor time to reset creativity and find some headspace
  • Fixed (but flexible) work hours, help keep clear boundaries while working from home. Th
  • Open culture of conversation — we talk openly about mental health and normalise asking for help

Animation with Heart

As we continue to grow our animation studio, we’re committed to using our skills not just for creativity, but for positive impact. Whether it’s crafting a powerful eLearning video about mental health awareness or an animated advert that champions inclusivity, we believe animation has the power to change lives.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we encourage everyone — inside and outside of the creative industries — to check in with themselves and those around them
